Tech Neck and Chiropractic Care

Although we may not want it to be, the reality is that technology plays a massive part in our everyday lives. From our Bluetooth speakers in our cars, our work computers and even relaxing at home, tech plays a massive part. All this time in front of a screen takes a massive toll on our bodies, and we often do not realize it. Until the COVID-19 pandemic when millions of people began working from home and classrooms went virtual, this was not as widely recognized. Now, there are names coming out such as the popular “tech neck.”

Teck Neck is caused by looking down at our screens instead of looking at them head on. At work, monitors are often below eye level and although many have the ability to tilt, few have the ability to raise. When we look at our phones, we do not hold them out in front of us. Instead, we look down, often hunched over which is now not only causing tension and pain in our necks but in our back and shoulders as well. If our head, neck, and shoulders are not aligned properly, this can lead to an entire spinal imbalance.

Comprehensive chiropractic care can make all the difference in alleviating you of pain caused by tech neck. Chiropractic care focuses on spinal health throughout the body. With your entire nervous system emitting transmissions from your spine, it is possible that you are experiencing pain in other areas of your body due to strain from tech neck. Through proper adjustments after a thorough examination, you can experience relief from tech neck.

Experiencing the best results not only comes from your chiropractor, but through small adjustments that you can make throughout your day. Stack books to put your monitor at eye level and wear blue light glasses to help combat eye strain. Even if you are working from home, try to do it at a table or desk, with a good chair that will provide you with back support. Make sure to get up and move every hour for at least 10 minutes and be away from a screen.

Tech Neck doesn’t have to become a part of your daily routine. If you are looking for back pain relief in Thousand Oaks we’ve got you covered.
